About us

The CROS project allows institutions to create, deploy and analyse surveys via the Web. All institutions taking part can compare their results with any other project partners.

The survey has a common core of questions aimed at capturing the views of researchers. Views on employment conditions, career and development opportunities and aspirations. Institutions can add further, site-specific questions if they wish.

A CROS survey was run successfully in 2002 when 17 UK universities took part. In 2009, a revised version of CROS was run by 51 UK Universities via the Bristol Online Survey service. CROS will be run again in 2010.

The project is managed by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology and the Personnel Department at the University of Bristol.

Initial project funding was provided until 2006 by HEFCE, the Scottish Funding Council, and DTI/OST (now BIS). CROS is now supported by Vitae.
